As we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, we depend highly on the generosity and good will of the public to help us help animals in crisis. This includes a variety of costs such as; vet fees, food, enrichment, enclosures, fuel costs for transport, office supplies for making up educational packs to hand out at talks and also information packs for new owners, ensuring the best possible start for our animals in their new homes.

Leaving a Legacy
It's not a pleasant time of life to think about, but we all do it from time to time and if you are an animal enthusiast who'd like to make a difference, consider a legacy for SRAN: Sophie's Refuge for Animals in Need, where education and quality care for animals are our primary concerns. Are you concerned about what will happen to your pet when the time comes? Don't be, Sophie's Refuge for Animals in Need is designed for people like you in mind. Arrangements can be made well in advance to ensure your much loved animals are well taken care of in the event of your death. We will provide them with all the care they could need and find them the best possible alternative where they will be loved and cherished until their time comes to meet you again. Your legacy to us could make an incredible difference to the lives we save here from; life saving operations and medications to upgrading facilities.
Do you have the gift of the gab, great organising skills and enthusiasm to generate interest for our cause? You could be just what we're looking for. Organisations like us, that are set up non-profit, rely heavily on public support for every day running and helping those animals in dire need. If you have what it takes, even if it's something small to start with to give you confidence, get in touch and we'll help you get the ball rolling.

Foster carers are the backbone of small rescues; they provide love, care and sanctuary for needy animals, they open their homes and hearts, are very selfless and they do it all for free! With a good basic knowledge of animal care and welfare, anyone can help. If you think you could help look after one of our many animals, please don't hesitate to get in touch through our contact page.
We are always in need of foster carers for all animals but most vitally cats and dogs. If you click on the button below, there is a little information on what is generally expected of our foster carers.
Home-checking is essential. With dedicated, experienced home-checkers in place we can rest assured knowing our animals are being fostered or adopted to the right people. These dedicated volunteers, like all our others, give their time and energy for free, so please be absolutely sure you want to foster or adopt an animal because it isn't only the animal that's let down at the end of the day, the volunteers are too. Having your own transport is ideal, but not essential. Below is a link to a set of guidelines for home-checkers to follow, but will also be supplied with a pack and questions for every home-check.
At SRAN we help animals from all over the UK and re-home our animals UK wide as well. To be able to do this efficiently and effectively we rely on a volunteer network around the uk able and willing to help transport these animals into rescue or to their new homes. If you feel you can offer assistance in this area, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Transport volunteers will have access to their own vehicles.
